About Urban Modern Kitchen

Urban Modern Kitchen is one of those places you bring up when someone asks where to eat in Appleton and you want to sound like you know the scene. Sitting right at 800 E Wisconsin Ave, Appleton, WI 54911, United States, this restaurant blends a polished modern look with an easygoing, come-as-you-are energy that makes first-time visitors feel instantly comfortable. I usually describe Urban Modern Kitchen as stylish without being stiff, because the space feels lively, welcoming, and built for everything from casual lunches to relaxed evening dinners. The menu leans into comfort food with a modern edge, but it also leaves room for lighter and healthier options, which is great when different cravings hit the table at once. You’ll notice thoughtful choices for vegan and vegetarian diners alongside small plates that are perfect for sharing, or for grabbing a quick bite without committing to a full meal. Drinks are clearly part of the experience here, too, with beer, wine, cocktails, and spirits flowing easily into the vibe, especially during happy hour when the place really comes alive. Coffee is available as well, making it just as suitable for a daytime meet-up as it is for a night out. Service options add another layer of convenience, since you can enjoy dine-in, takeaway, or even kerbside pickup when time is tight. On warmer days, outdoor seating becomes a big draw, while the private dining room offers a quieter option for gatherings that need a little more space and focus. Overall, Urban Modern Kitchen feels like a restaurant designed around real life, flexible plans, and good food shared at your own pace. The atmosphere stays upbeat without feeling rushed, so conversations flow naturally and meals stretch comfortably, whether you’re stopping in after work or planning a longer catch-up with friends. It’s the kind of spot locals return to often, because it adapts easily to moods, schedules, and seasons.

Urban Modern Kitchen – Appleton, WI Stopped in for lunch with my bestie today and overall had a pleasant experience. We started with the three-dip appetizer. The flavors were fine but a bit basic — the cheese dip tasted good but was a little runny, the salsa reminded me of Pace Picante, and the guac was the standout of the trio. For mains, my friend ordered the Chicken Pesto Panini, which was really good and absolutely huge. It came with homemade kettle chips that were perfectly crunchy. I went with the Greek Bowl, which overall was tasty, but there were a lot of olives and they were super salty — when you’re already salty, you don’t need more salt (kidding!). I do wish they offered a “build-your-own” bowl option. None of the bowls start off vegetarian, even though they easily could be with a simple swap. Thankfully they let me substitute the chicken for an egg (which came first? ), so that was appreciated. Service was kind and attentive. Portions are generous, which helps justify the slightly higher prices. The interior is cute and modern, though it was a bit chilly inside during our visit. All in all, a good spot for lunch with tasty options, big servings, friendly service, and room for a few small tweaks. Would return!

HIGHLY recommend dining here!! Food was absolutely delicious; service was friendly, attentive and fast; atmosphere is perfect- whoever chose the decor did a phenomenal job!! We got the brisket mac&cheese which was flavorful and fresh, also got the Philly cheesesteak which was well-made. Portion sizes are large enough to share for sure! Potstickers appetizer was SO good- will definitely get those again. So many other things we want to try here, so we will definitely be back!! Nice sized parking lot and decent amount of tables inside as well as some outside. It does get busy so get there early at peak lunch or dinner times.

Stopped in quickly to get lunch and oh my! What a fantastic place! It is not huge but it packs a punch! It is very modern and cute as the name implies, service was very fast and pleasant. Server obliged me with a vegan menu and answered questions before I decided on the Mexibowl. This meal was absolutely delicious, I was very full and enjoyed the mix of flavors and textures— it is also an attractive dish! It was enough for me for two meals easily. Could not be more thrilled and will be back! It was so quick yet so well done! Truly impressed! They have a large menu and offer vegan and gluten free accommodations I believe. The regular menu had plenty to offer and they do specials! If you like bowls or enjoy fresh flavorful food stop in it is fine in or take out.
